Dying for Freedom: Support Dr. Nasser bin Ghaith

Emirati academic and economist Dr. Nasser bin Ghaith’s life is in imminent danger as he continues his hunger strike in al Razeen prison, where he is currently serving a 10 year prison sentence. On February 25th 2018 bin Ghaith launched a hunger strike for the second time, protesting against the ill treatment he is experiencing, and he has started suffering from hypoglycemia, fatigue, and high blood pressure. In attempt to force him to end his strike, he is currently being held in solitary confinement and denied family visits.

His crime? He spoke up against the torture and ill treatment that he and other defendants experienced in a grossly unfair trial of political prisoners (the UAE 5). On 29th March 2017 he was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment on charges of ‘posting false information’ with the intention to ‘harm the reputation of the state and its institutions’.

Join us as we call for an end to the ongoing and unjust imprisonment of Dr. Nasser bin Ghaith, along with other prisoners of conscience such as Ahmed Mansoor and Osama al Najjar!

Date and time: Friday 4th May, 14:00, central London
