UAE: 100 Indian workers do not have access to their passports after abruptly losing jobs left stranded in Abu Dhabi

Media reports suggest that more than 100 Indian migrant workers are stranded in Abu Dhabi without passports and have sought help from the Indian government.

The Indian workers who were working in a private company were suddenly fired, and their passports were frozen without return. As a result, more than 100 laborers are stranded and unable to return to India.

Social activist Dilbagh Singh has written a letter to Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar demanding the immediate return of Punjabi workers stranded in Abu Dhabi.

Subsequently, Jaishankar directed the Indian Consulate in Dubai to help the stranded workers in the UAE and asked the authorities to make arrangements for their return to India.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was responsible for serious human rights violations and labor abuses against low-paid migrant workers.

Tens of thousands of migrant workers faced massive unemployment and were left stranded in dire conditions without legal residencies. Many struggled with unpaid wages and wage theft, and were unable to pay rent or buy food.
