US ignores UAE's human rights violations records, receives Mohamed Bin Zayed

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed is scheduled to meet at the White House with US President Donald Trump on Monday to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

The two-day visit came amid the continued arbitrary detention of human rights defender Ahmed Mansoor, who since has been held in solitary confinement for more than 50 consecutive day for freedom of expression charges.

The visit also came while prominent human rights defender Nasser Bin Ghaith continues his open-ended hunger strike since 2 April demanding his unconditional release and while four prisoners of consicence are still held behind UAE bars despite having fully spent their prison sentences.

However, the embarrassing human rights record of the UAE was totally ignored by the US mainstream media,  raising concerns over their commitments to human rights values.
