Video: Right to demonstrate denied in the UAE

The UAE authorities have banned the right for demonstration in 2011 following the wave of uprisings in the Arab world, known as the Arab spring.

Dozens of the activists, including prominent human rights defenders, judges, academics, and student leaders, have been arrested for exercising their basic right to peacefully demonstrate.

Numerous human rights Emirati activists have repeatedly deplored the UAE government’s disregard for its international human rights obligations and its failure to act on recommendations from United Nations human rights experts.
